WELCOME TO SPAIN!

We want to welcome the teachers Ana, Begoña and Maria Jose, who met from November 20-24 with the Comenius project partners from Poland, Romania, Italy, Wales in Usak (Turkey), where the Turkish school is located.

They have brought many "souvenirs" of all countries, as you can see from the pictures and hundreds of photos, today with great enthusiasm we have shown them to all students and teachers. They have promised to make a selection to share on this blog soon.

Welcome Back!

OUR STUDENTS AND THE MUSIC

As we are currently celebrating the Week of Music, where we have dedicated our work to the theme of musical instruments, three students in grade 5 wanted to bring us their pictures related to the topic of music but done outside of school.

Adriana Castillo participates in the group Monteagudo Majorets, which recently published a 2012 calendar with really interesting photos of themselves. Our student appears surrounded by a circle.

Pablo Gonzalez attends extracurricular piano classes at the Cabezo de Torres´ School of Music and although he has only recently begun, he will certainly end up being a great pianist.

Daniel Martinez has a Spanish guitar at home and even though he still does not know how to play it, he would like to start soon and later move onto an electric guitar, he is a rocker!

Both teachers and fellow students wish them well in their musical lives and we are very proud to have them in our school.

SANTA CECILIA 2011: A LUTHIER (CRAFTSMAN INSTRUMENTS) VISITS OUR SCHOOL.

As we had been announcing before, today we have celebrated in advance the Day the Music at our school and we were visited by a luthier, which is a craftsman of musical instruments, Don Antonio Belmonte Diaz.

We had a very pleasant soiree. The craftsman has shown us some of his instruments, which we have even been able to touch, and he also has shown us one of his gourds that was hollowed and ready to start working on, just as he had other lutes that are half finished so we could see how they are constructed.

Furthermore, we have been able to enjoy a small concert; the artist has been playing some classical and other traditional Murcian music on different instruments.

We liked it a lot! Thank you for coming to our school, Don Antonio!

ACTIVITIES MUSIC DAY

Due to Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of music,
we will continue doing activities at our school.

On Friday November 11th, we spoke to all students (Elementary students in the music room and the little ones in preschool in their classes) about Don Antonio Belmonte Diaz, who will come on Monday to show us his work. We saw a presentation where we learned a little about his life and were shown many photos of the craftsman with all the instruments he has made so far.

We have a lot of questions to ask him when he comes!

Later in Arts Education and Music class, students in grades 5 and 6 were able to build their own musical instruments, with custard and yogurt containers, rolls of paper, wool, soda can tabs, tetra bricks and rice we brought home.
The results were: maracas, rain sticks, Chinese drums, timbales and others that we invented and which sounded really funny.

After the great work accomplished, we got to play games in English about musical instruments: matching games, dominoes, Parcheesi and puzzles.
We had a great time!
